Battlefield 6 delivers the best, most visceral-feeling gunplay in the series thus far, and it’s all thanks to the game’s sound design combined with excellent animations and weapon feedback. Speaking of the latter, fans may have noticed that recoil in this game is much more noticeable than in previous series entries, and if that bothers you, you’ll be glad to know there are many options on how to make shooting feel a lot smoother.
This guide covers several ways to mitigate recoil in Battlefield 6. This includes settings that some players might not know about, as well as the best attachments and techniques you can use to stop your gun from going all over the place.
How to Reduce Visual Recoil in Battlefield 6
Visual recoil refers to how strongly your camera shakes when you fire your weapon. This is tied to a number of things, but if you want to keep visual recoil to a minimum, you can tweak some Battlefield 6 settings to make things a little less erratic:
- Go to the Graphics settings menu.
- Under Camera Settings, set your Field of View to any value over 100.
- Set Camera Shake Amount to 50.
- Set Weapon and World Motion Blur to 0.
Changing these settings won’t have an actual effect on how hard the weapons in Battlefield 6 will kick when shooting, but it’ll make your game feel smoother when shooting and moving quickly. Out of all these settings, the FOV one has the highest impact on the visual recoil you feel because it zooms your camera out, making the recoil at the point of your reticle feel more subdued.
Speaking of FOV, visual recoil has a less noticeable effect when using low-zoom optics. High-zoom ones are likewise more affected by it.
Best Attachments to Reduce Recoil in Battlefield 6
Muzzle devices and foregrips are the main attachments you want to use to reduce recoil in Battlefield 6. The more expensive attachments usually provide better stat boosts, so if you want to decrease your weapon’s recoil as much as possible, use the following:
Muzzle Attachments |
Double-Port Brake Compensated Brake Linear Compensator Lightened Suppressor |
Foregrips |
Classic Vertical Grip Low Profile Stubby Grip Full Angled Grip |
There are a few things to keep in mind here, though:
- If you’re using a muzzle break, you will become spotted in the world and on the map when firing.
- Suppressors will not make you spotted when firing, and you won’t appear on the minimap past a certain range.
- Foregrips that greatly reduce your recoil also tend to reduce your ADS weapon accuracy.
Bipods and Weapon Mounting
You can use bipods on LMGs and grip pods for rifles like the M4A1, and deploying these attachments will significantly reduce the recoil of your weapon. To use bipods in Battlefield 6, aim down your sights then, if you’re lying prone or are near a mountable surface, press the F key for keyboard or double tap LT/L2 if you’re using a controller. You can mount your weapon even if you aren’t using a bipod, but this doesn’t appear to give any noticeable recoil reduction.
Bipods provide stronger recoil reduction effects when deployed compared to Grip Pods, but the latter provides recoil reduction even when you aren’t mounted.
