CloverPit looks like a simple slot machine game at first glance, but beneath its flashing lights lies one of the strangest mechanics in the entire roguelike genre. As you gamble, a mysterious corpse slowly begins to take shape inside your machine. These eerie pieces can actually unlock one of CloverPit’s most important items: the Skeleton Key. This guide will explain exactly how to get corpse parts, what they do, and how to get the Skeleton Key to escape the locked room in CloverPit.
How To Get the Skeleton Key in CloverPit
The Skeleton Key is a special item that you can only unlock by completing the corpse system. With the Skeleton Key in hand, you can easily escape the locked room.
You’ll need all four drawers unlocked before you can even attempt to get the Skeleton Key, since without them, you won’t have enough space to hold every corpse part.
Here are the exact steps you need to follow to get the Skeleton Key:
- Collect 4 Corpse pieces and purchase the Skull from the shop once it appears. It synergizes with the Corpse parts and is required for the ending.
- Next, ignore the red calls at the start of Deadline #3 and #7 by clicking on “Be Right Back.” Ignoring a red call will add a slash mark over one of the three 6s on the floppy disk next to your slot machine. You need to mark all three 6s before the final Deadline.
- To force the third red call, you must spin a 666 pattern during a deadline before the 8th one. You can boost your chance of 666 by using the Heartbreak Memory Card at the start of your run.
- When Deadline #8 starts, all three 6s on the disk should be slashed. Now, answer the phone at Deadline #8.
- Complete Deadline #8 by scoring more than 250,000 points. Once you beat Deadline #8, collect the Skeleton Key from the box beside the ATM.
- You can then use the key to unlock the door and escape.
How To Collect More Corpse Pieces in CloverPit
There’s also another way to start a run with corpse parts: any charms you leave in drawers at the end of a run are automatically converted into corpse pieces when you begin the next. If you plan it correctly, you can start fresh with up to four parts already installed.
Having corpse pieces comes at a cost, though. Each one increases your total debt by five percent. This makes survival tougher and your runs more stressful. On their own, corpses feel like a liability, but they’re worth the trouble when paired with the Skull.
For every corpse part you have, the Skull grants a free random charm. This is one of the riskiest but most rewarding strategies CloverPit has to offer.
