
Every region of Ghost of Yotei contains a Mythic Tale, and there are 7 Mythic Tales to experience throughout Ezo. Each Mythic Tale offers players a unique story of an unrivaled samurai, and Atsu can prove herself against them with clashing blades and cunning wit. Takezo the Unrivaled in Ghost of Yotei
Takezo the Unrivaled Location & Reward
- Location: Dueling Tree at the Shikotsu River, Yotei Grasslands
- Rewards: Charm of the Unrelenting Warrior, Charm of Bold Deflection, Charm of Renewed Determination, Charm of Bracing Victory, Charm of the Stout Heart, Dual Katanas Spirit Attack

In order to start the Takezo the Unrivaled Mythic Tale, players must duel a Disciple of Takezo at any of the 5 Dueling Trees. The easiest Dueling Tree to find is south of the Shikotsu River in the Yotei Grasslands. Once you have traveled here, you can interact with the Disciple of Takezo and initiate a Fight to the Death. After beating this ronin, you will need to find 4 additional Dueling Trees and beat the Disciples of Takezo that await beneath them. These are scattered across Ezo, but here’s a quick overview:
- Northwest of the Yotei River in Yotei Grasslands
- South of the Tomamu Marshlands in Tokachi Range
- West of Yubari Lake in Tokachi Range
- East of Boar’s Eye Cave in Tokachi Range
After you have beaten all 5 Disciples of Takezo at their respective Dueling Trees, you will be rewarded with 5 Charms for each defeat:

The final step requires players to find Takezo, who is located at the Coastal Dueling Tree in the Southern Coast of the Yotei Grasslands, by a campfire where you can wait for him.

The Five Teachings is a Mythic Tale that is automatically acquired after completing Takezo the Unrivaled. TO begin the quest, equip all 5 of Takezo’s Charms that you acquired by dueling the Disciples of Takezo, and then make your way to Mount Yotei in the Yotei Grasslands region. You will be required to climb to the top of Mount Yotei (walkthrough here), where you will then challenge Takezo to a fight to the death in order to claim the Straw Hat of the Unrivaled, the Gilded Night and Gilded Dawn Weapon Kits, and the Unrivaled Trophy.
The Undying Samurai in Ghost of Yotei
The Undying Samurai Location & Reward
The Undying Samurai is a Mythic Tale located in Ishikari Plain. The start of the Undying Samurai tale is located in the north area of Nakagoya Spring, where players will be able to find Storyteller’s Rest, a location just opposite a tree that has a hostile bear. Players will meet with Ugatsu the Storyteller, who speaks the tale of the Undying Samurai. The quest ahead requires players to find 4 wind chimes so that they can locate the Undying Samurai’s lair and challenge him to a duel. Those who beat the duel are rewarded with the Armor of the Undying, which comes with the following buffs:
- If weapon aligned, Staggering enemies restores Health.
- If weapon aligned, the window to perform Perfect Parry and Perfect Dodge is increased.
- If weapon aligned, Focus Attacks have a chance to increase Stagger damage.
The Spider Lily General in Ghost of Yotei
The Spider Lily General Location & Reward
The Spider Lily General can be started by heading south of Huranui’s Rest Inn in the Tokachi Range region. Keep heading south into the back of the Shizaunai Woods, where you’ll come across a Mysterious Gate. Once you approach this locked gate, you will be stopped by Ugatsu the Storyteller, who will tell the tale of the Spider Lily General and the terrors that await beyond the fog. If players are brave enough to venture through the Mysterious Gate, they will enter the fog-shrouded Abandoned Tominaga Estate, where they are then tasked with finding 4 unique keys. Eventually, players will finally face the Spider Lily General, and they will be rewarded with the Spider Lily Armor, which has the following buffs:
- Enemies have a chance to drop throwable weapons.
- Stagger damage inflicted by melee weapons increases.
- Staggering an enemy has a chance of dealing Stagger damage to nearby enemies.
The Legend of Opusnupuri in Ghost of Yotei
The Legend of Opusnupuri Location & Reward
- Location: Niptay Mountain, Nayoro Wilds
- Reward: Charm of True Aim
The Legend of Opusnupri becomes available after players meet Huci at Husko Kotan in the Nayoro Wilds. Speak with the Yukar Storyteller in the Husko Kotan to hear the Legeo hear The Legend of Opusnupuri. The mission itself revolves around climbing Niptay Mountain to search for Okikurmi’s Arrow. It’s a long and cold journey that ends with a battle against a bear of the frozen wilds, the Bad Kamuy. Completing this Mythic Tale rewards the Charm of True Aim: The Yumi locks-on to enemies and fires arrows, inflicting massive damage.
The Crimson Kimono in Ghost of Yotei

Crimson Kimono
The Crimson Kimono can be started by speaking to Ugetsu the Storyteller at the large orange tree in the east area of the Sakuru Woods in Teshio Ridge. This is the Mother Daughter Tree, and now players can examine the snow scultpure beside Ugetsu to begin the quest. The quest itself involves following a trail of orange trees, snow sculptures, and readable scrolls, where you’ll eventually finish the trail by acquiring the Crimson Kimono Armor, which has the following buffs:
- Chain Assassinations can be performed with Kunai
- Enemy detection is reduced by a massive amount
- Kusarigama Assassinations can be unleashed from further away.
The final Mythic Tale might be a spoiler for some players, so caution is advised upon reading ahead if you want to keep some surprises a secret.
The Storm Blade in Ghost of Yotei
The Storm Blade Location & Reward
- Location: Forgotten Shrine, Oshima Coast
- Rewards: Ghost Mask, Stag Helmet, Storm Blade Weapon Kit, Dance of Wrath, From One Ghost to Another Trophy
Players can find the start of The Storm Blade Mythic Tale in the south west region of Oshima Coast at the Forgotten Shrine. The Storm Blade is the only quest where Jin Sakai is mentioned in Ghost of Yotei, bringing forth a respectable and beautiful tribute to the Ghost of Tsushima protagonist. Players can start the quest and uncover what happened to Jin Sakai after the events of Ghost of Tsushima, over 300 years ago. We won’t spoil too much, as it’s a beautiful Mythic Tale of the first Shinobi worth uncovering, but the rewards involves some of Jin’s old gear.
