This article contains spoilers for the Jujutsu Kaisen Manga and Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.
Jujutsu Kaisen has become one of the biggest and most successful manga series, and even a year after the conclusion of the series, it remains popular to this day, despite the final arc of the series being rushed. Its popularity was such that the series got a sequel one year after its conclusion, called Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, also written by the same author but illustrated by Yuji Iwasaki instead. The series is already a huge hit, and fans are deeply invested.
Modulo’s concept is great, but there’s a sense of sadness in the story, especially for fans more invested in the original characters of JJK. The previous main characters, Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi are either already dead or going to die before the end of Modulo. After all, the story is set 68 years after the big final battle.
The Main Characters of JJK Are Already Dead Or Will Die in JJK Modulo
- The Story is Set 68 Years After the Sukuna Battle
- Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi Are All in Their 80s
Jujutsu Kaisen had a great run, and throughout all of this, fans grew very attached to its main characters, namely Yuji, Nobara, Megumi, and even Gojo. Gojo died in Shinjuku Showdown, as he fell during the toughest battle against Sukuna. Gojo won’t be the last of the main characters to die, however.
Yuji, Nobara, and Megumi might have survived the events of the original JJK series, but Modulo is a whole other issue for them. Firstly, age will be their main enemy. JJK Modulo is set 68 years after the end of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Sukuna battle. Nobara and Megumi were 16 back then, while Yuji was 15. This means that all three are now in their 80s, and their time might be running out, or probably has already run out.
Fans have already lost Maki to age, and Yuta followed her soon after due to grief. Age is not the only issue here, as even if the characters are alive and well, there are big battles ahead. Some characters have to fall, and Modulo would be the ideal opportunity for Gege to sacrifice his old main characters for the sake of the new ones.
Yuji Has The Highest Chances of Survival In The Bunch
Yuji Is No Normal Human
Not all of JJK’s previous main characters are created equal. Nobara and Megumi are, for the most part, regular humans. Yuji, on the other hand, is different. Yuji was birthed by Kenjaku, and he was the vessel of the King of Curses, Sukuna. His body isn’t normal, and it might be that he ages more slowly than a normal human. If there’s one character that could’ve survived, it’s definitely Yuji.
The Jujutsu Kaisen manga ended in late 2024 but can be read online for free. It is available on Manga Plus, where this series used to be serialized weekly. For fans who want to check out the new JJK sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, the series can also be read on Manga Plus, where it will drop weekly. Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 5 will be released on October 5, 2025.
