Amazon has a terrific preorder deal on its exclusive 4K Blu-ray edition of The Long Walk. Already budget-priced at its $35 MSRP, The Long Walk’s Limited Edition Steelbook is now available to preorder for only $25.89. That’s an unusually low price for a brand-new movie on 4K Blu-ray with a steelbook case and slipcover. At this time, the Amazon-exclusive edition is the lone 4K Blu-ray version of The Long Walk. It also happens to be cheaper than both the 1080p Blu-ray and DVD editions (for now).
The dystopian thriller is one of the highest-rated Stephen King movie adaptations of all time from a critical perspective. At the time of writing, The Long Walk holds a 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Directed by Francis Lawrence and written by JT Mollner, The Long Walk’s ensemble cast includes Cooper Hoffman, David Jonsson, Judy Greer, and Mark Hamill, among others.
The Long Walk is the third King adaptation to hit theaters in 2025, and the first of the three with a Steelbook Edition. Speaking of firsts, you can also preorder the first standalone hardcover edition of the 1979 novel at Amazon. Take a closer look at physical editions of the new adaptation and the classic King novel below.

The Long Walk’s Steelbook Edition comes with 4K Blu-ray, 1080p Blu-ray, and digital versions of the movie. The steelbook cases features Mark Hamill’s villainous character, the Major, on the front and dog tags of contestants on the back. A transparent sleeve alters the Major’s sunglasses. With the sleeve on, you can see the young men walking in the reflection. When the sleeve is removed, the reflection disappears. The interior artwork shows the contestants walking with a tank following behind them.
The 4K Blu-ray disc supports Dolby Vision and HDR10. For audio, The Long Walk is compatible with Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD 7.1 surround sound.
The Long Walk Editions:
$29 | Releases October 7
If you want to read Stephen King’s original novel before or after watching the film adaptation, Scribner is publishing a new hardcover edition of The Long Walk on October 7. New editions of King’s books are often printed when an adaptation is made, but most of the time these are paperbacks. For big King fans who want to collect hardcover editions, the upcoming edition of The Long Walk is a big deal.
This is the first standalone hardcover edition of The Long Walk sold at bookstores and major retailers. The reason for this is because The Long Walk is one of a handful of novels King wrote under the pen name Richard Bachman. Novels published under the Bachman name were only available as paperbacks. The Long Walk hit stores in 1979, but it’s actually the first novel King wrote.
When the author revealed the true identity of Bachman in 1985, The Long Walk and three other books initially published under the pseudonym were collected in hardcover as The Bachman Books. The Long Walk also received a pricey Limited Edition from Centipede Press in 2023.
Earlier this month, Scribner published a paperback tie-in edition with The Long Walk movie poster as the cover art. Amazon has a limited-time deal that drops the price of this edition to $14.24.

If you’re interested in the hardcover edition of The Long Walk, chances are you’ll also want to preorder the hardcover edition of The Running Man. King wrote The Running Man under the Bachman pseudonym, so it had never received a standalone hardcover edition until now. The Running Man’s hardcover edition will be published October 14 for $29. The Running Man’s new film adaptation starring Glen Powell and directed by Edgar Wright premieres November 7. The movie is expected to be more faithful to the source material than the original 1987 adaptation starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Stephen King Movies on 4K Blu-ray

As mentioned, The Long Walk is the first 2025 King adaptation with a Steelbook Edition, but we’d be surprised if The Running Man doesn’t get one. The two 2025 adaptations without Steelbook Editions are The Life of Chuck and The Monkey. Directed by Osgood Perkins, The Monkey is a horror-comedy about a cursed toy monkey. It received a standard 4K Blu-ray release in June, and Amazon has it for only $19.67 (was $43) right now. The Life of Chuck, meanwhile, is a fantasy drama directed by Mike Flanagan. The 4K Blu-ray edition released September 30 and is available for $24 (was $40) at Amazon.
Several older film adaptations of King’s work have received new 4K Blu-ray editions this year. The Dead Zone Limited Edition Steelbook released in June as an Amazon exclusive; The Dark Half was finally restored in 4K in July; and Creepshow 2 arrived on 4K Blu-ray at the end of September as a Limited Edition from Arrow Video. The 1990 film Graveyard Shift also released on 4K Blu-ray this year, but unlike the other movies we mentioned, Graveyard Shift is pretty bad.
We put together a list of Stephen King movies on 4K Blu-ray. There aren’t very many 4K Steelbook Editions that remain in print, but you can get Stand By Me, Carrie (1976), and Creepshow Steelbook Editions for nice discounts.
