
A new Pokemon TCG chart is showing the most expensive cards from the Mega Evolution expansion, with a pair of extremely rare cards worth over $400. Mega Evolution has brought a plethora of changes to the game for both players and collectors, with the return of Mega Pokemon serving as one of the biggest changes in the set. The Pokemon TCG also introduced a brand-new rarity to the game with the set’s release, adding two new cards in the “Mega Hyper Rare” rarity. Now, some of those cards are boasting some exorbitant prices.
Mega Evolution came with a plethora of high-profile cards for players to collect, including some stunning new Special Illustration Rare cards. Six of the ten new Mega Pokemon received their own Special Illustration Rare versions within the expansion, featuring fan-favorites like Mega Absol and Mega Venusaur. The introduction of Mega Hyper Rare also saw the set’s two cover Pokemon receive impressive gold versions, debuting Mega Hyper Rare cards for Mega Gardevoir and Mega Lucario. Some of the Pokemon TCG‘s newest cards now command some high price tags.
A new chart shared by Twitter aggregator Pokemon Drop & Restock Alerts is detailing the price points of the ten most expensive cards in Mega Evolution. The two Mega Hyper Rare cards stand as the highest-priced cards in the set, with Mega Lucario ex valued at $541.42 and Mega Gardevoir ex at $489.16. Mega Gardevoir serves as the most expensive of the set’s group of Special Illustration Rares, priced at $283.35, with Mega Lucario ex’s Special Illustration Rare following close behind at $277.59. Mega Venusaur ex rounds out the Top 5 cards in the set, available for $217.60.

Mega Evolution’s price points have seen many of the expected cards sitting near the top of the set. The list notably only features one Trainer card priced in the Top 10 of the set, with the Special Illustration Rare version of Lillie’s Determination sitting at 8th place in Mega Evolution, valued at $180.26. Lillie’s Determination is also expected to be a powerhouse in the competitive meta for the TCG, likely becoming a staple Supporter card for its ability to reset its user’s hand and draw into different cards.
The Mega Evolution expansion has added plenty more than just expensive cards to the TCG, with plenty of powerful new strategies debuting. Grass-focused Decks received some major boosts following the set’s release, with “Forest of Vitality” allowing players to evolve Grass Pokemon early and Meganium’s Ability providing powerful ramping effects. Mega Gardevoir ex will also slot nicely into the pre-existing Gardevoir deck as another late-game option for Gardevoir players to close out a game.
