Tracer has officially been re-enabled in Overwatch 2 Stadium once again after briefly breaking the game. Players can now choose this Iconic Overwatch 2 damage hero while playing the chaotic Stadium game mode.
During the Overwatch 2 mid-Season 18 update, Blizzard added Tracer to the roster of heroes for Stadium. Though the original plan was to add Wuyang during the midseason patch, like Overwatch 2 did with Freja, the devs later decided to delay the debut of Season 18’s new support hero in Stadium until more iconic heroes could be implemented.
Tracer is Back in Overwatch 2 Stadium Once More
Unfortunately, Tracer caused some problems when she was first added to Stadium. Mere days after her arrival, a game-breaking glitch was discovered that caused Tracer to be disabled from Overwatch 2 Stadium on Thursday, September 18. It took the better part of a week to resolve, but according to a Twitter post from Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller, Tracer has been fixed up and re-added to Stadium as of late night on September 22.
The bug that caused Tracer to be disabled was pretty entertaining. Her Recall ability allows her to return to the position and health she had three seconds ago. However, Stadium did not account for her health changing by buying or selling Items, allowing her to purchase defensive upgrades, then quickly sell them and use Recall to get the health back, while retaining the inventory slot and Stadium Cash. Needless to say, this led to situations where Tracer in Overwatch 2 Stadium could easily get well over 1500 health.
It won’t be long until Stadium gets another batch of Overwatch 2 heroes added to its roster. Season 19, currently planned to arrive on October 14, will likely add three more characters at launch, and one more during the midseason update. While the exact heroes being added haven’t yet been confirmed, Sojourn and Torbjorn are likely candidates. Fans will have to wait and see which Overwatch 2 heroes will be next to arrive in the exciting game mode.
In the meantime, there are plenty of reasons to jump into Overwatch 2 right now as well. The Play Like Luka event is ongoing until September 26, and the Overwatch 2 x Persona 5 crossover until September 30. Additionally, week 2 of Overwatch 2’s third anniversary event has begun, bringing a new set of game modes and rewards to be earned by players. Many of these challenges can be completed in Stadium, making it a perfect opportunity to give Tracer a try now that she is back again.
