On September 22, Pokemon GO confirmed the return of the Harvest Festival event, highlighted by the debut of Dipplin and Hydrapple. The Pokemon GO Harvest Festival event will run from October 10 to 16, meaning players will have just under a week to claim various rewards and unlock encounters with Applin, Smoliv, and Pumpkaboo.
Known as the Candy Apple Pokemon, Dipplin first appeared in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s first expansion, The Teal Mask. Dipplin is the third branched evolution path for Applin, following Flapple and Appletun. Applin evolves into Dipplin when exposed to a Syrupy Apple, an item that can be obtained at an apple stall in Kitakami. If Dipplin levels up while it knows a move called Dragon Cheer, it will subsequently evolve into Hydrapple. Dragon Cheer can be taught via TM226, which is gained after defeating Drayton during the main story of the Indigo Disk DLC. Additional copies of TM226 can then be made at a Pokemon Center via the TM Machine.
A few days after the Dynamax Duraladon event ends on October 7, Pokemon GO players will have another debut to prepare for. The 2025 edition of the Harvest Festival begins on Friday, October 10, at 10:00 AM local time and ends on Thursday, October 16, at 8:00 PM local time. The Harvest Festival will mark the debut of Dipplin and Hydrapple in Pokemon GO. Evolving an Applin into a Dipplin will require 200 Applin Candy and 20 Syrupy Apples.
The latter can be discovered by tapping PokeStops that have an active Mossy Lure Module, along with Sweet Apples, Tart Apples, and a chance to encounter an Applin. Feeding Wild Pokemon a Pinap Berry or Silver Pinap Berry will offer double the Candy after catching them. Additionally, Shiny Smoliv and Shiny Pumpkaboo have an increased encounter rate during the Pokemon GO Harvest Festival.
The debut of Dipplin and Hydrapple is part of Pokemon GO‘s Tales of Transformation Special Research event, which runs until December 2. A Paid Timed Research ticket can also be purchased for $4.99 while the Harvest Festival is live. The ticket will passively grant double the duration on Mossy Lure Modules and an increased chance to receive Berries from PokeStops. Completing Timed Research tasks will subsequently give Pokemon GO players more Applin encounter chances along with additional Mossy Lure Modules and Silver Pinap Berries.
The Harvest Festival will also run alongside the October 12 Pokemon GO Community Day, one of Season 20’s various events. All in all, Pokemon GO trainers will soon have an excellent opportunity to add some seasonal critters to their collections.
