As part of the PlayStation State of Play today, IO Interactive showed a lot of footage from the James Bond game 007 First Light and confirmed that Patrick Gibson is playing the legendary British super-spy.
Fans had theorized for months that it was Gibson playing James Bond, based on the character model’s likeness bearing a resemblance, but now it’s officially confirmed.
“It’s thrilling to be bringing this character to life in the gaming world,” Gibson said. The rest of the cast includes Lenny James as Bond’s mentor Greenway, Priyanga Burford as M, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Kiera Lester as Moneypenny, and Noemie Nakai as Ms. Roth.
The developer also showed off an extended gameplay segment for 007 First Light, and it looked like something right out of the movies. You can watch the entire segment below.
007 First Light launches on May 27, 2026 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch 2. There will be a $300 collector’s edition that comes with a mini Golden Gun, while everyone who preorders is automatically upgraded to the deluxe edition.
